Welcome, Sweet Friends!
I made the first batch of Mother Melanie’s Crunchy Munchies during the holiday season of 1999 as somewhat of an experiment and have continued making the goodies for friends and family ever since.
Multiple times over the years, friends and family encouraged me to consider selling the product due to its unique blend of flavors and textures. It seemed to be a hit with all audiences with a sweet tooth. Finally, during the fall of 2017, I decided to test the waters by selling a few bags of the treats to friends. Sales significantly exceeded expectations leading to the establishment of Mother Melanie’s Sweet Treats to expand promotion beyond family and friends.
Over the years, I have been asked multiple times where the name originated; it’s a two-part story. My fifth grade teacher (Miss Tang) nicknamed me ‘Mother Melanie’ because I had a way of taking care of my friends and classmates. At only ten-years old, for better or worse, the nickname stuck. Fast forward…while at a holiday party about a decade ago, I brought my sweet treats to share with the crowd. Heard from across the room from one of my sweet friend’s 4 year-old daughter as she walked toward me: “Miss Melanie, My mom wants some more of your crack candy!” The friend couldn’t get enough of the tasty treat. This generated quite a few laughs from the party but then the name, Mother Melanie’s Crack Candy, emerged and it stuck! Although it was fitting, the treats tend to be addicting, I was skeptical about the idea of selling something with the name ‘Crack Candy’ thus ‘Mother Melanie’s Crunchy Munchies’ was born in 2017.
Mother Melanie’s Crunchy Munchies is a sweet treat that serves as an alternative to traditional cookies or candy. This treat has a unique combination of sweet and salty flavors satisfying diverse snack cravings. There are currently six distinct flavors of Crunchy Munchies available for purchase: Vanilla, Peanut Butter Butterscotch, Chocolate, Peppermint, Chocolate Peppermint, and Cookies & Cream. I continue to experiment with additional flavors so make sure to check back for future delectable treats!
